For Immediate Release – Crash Mitigation - Lightweight Vehicle Attenuators

The New York State BID 27734, Group 38650 (Safety Equipment for Transportation & Public Works) section of SUV and Lightweight Vehicle Attenuators has been awarded to Mohr Manufacturing of Burnsville, Minnesota.

This Comprehensive Crash Mitigation initiative includes lightweight attenuators to reduce workman’s comp claims, vehicle damage and the risk of whiplash in pickup trucks and SUVs equipped with receiver hitches in the State of New York.

The potential for lightweight vehicle attenuator use is enormous because 32.1% of all fleet injuries are caused by the rear end collision according to Business Fleet.  And according to OSHA, every crash costs a fleet $16,500 and if there is an injury involved over $74,000.

“We are looking forward to working with the State of New York on crash mitigation for their fleet pickup trucks and SUVs” states Jeff Mohr, CEO, Mohr Mfg.  “The rear end collision is the most frequent fleet vehicle accident and we’re confident our receiver mounted attenuators (RMA’s) will cut the costs of vehicle repairs, workman’s comp issues and reduce whiplash injuries from rear end collisions by more then 50%...and will pay for themselves in less then one year.”

NYSPro Statewide contracts are by the NYS Law only issued through the NY State Procurement (NYSPro) office. A statewide contract becomes the contract source to be used by all New York State Executive Agencies including: Dept of Transportation, Parks, Environmental Conservation, Police, Fire, New York Thruway, New York City’s Metropolitan Transportation Authority, The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey, as well as by all 63 County Governments, any Municipality within the State and finally by the educational community in any school system or district & any college or university (public or private).

New York State Agencies are also restricted from going off on their own and writing separate procurements when a Statewide is in place.
